In 2004 our founder Jack Cockrel was over at WBFI radio station to be on the Bible Breakfast Club with Apostle Ron Miller. After the broadcast was over Bro. Ron asked Bro. Jack if he had ever considered planting a church in Caneyville, Kentucky. Bro. Jack told him no but promised to pray about. Bro. Jack had no intensions of planting a church in Caneyville, Kentucky because it was his hometown, it was where he lived, and worked but before he made it back to Caneyville from Mc Daniels, Kentucky the Lord put a burden on his heart to see souls saved, minister, and plant a work in Caneyville. After much prayer, fasting, searching, and hard work. On Sunday, April 29th, 2005 after transforming the front half of an old trucking garage located at 402 Morgantown Street Caneyville, Kentucky we held our first service at Southside Christian Center in what we call the little green room at 6:30 pm cst. After a month of Sunday Night Services of having over 40 people each Sunday night we went full time into services Sunday School, Sunday Morning Worship Service, Wednesday Night Service. The Lord was moving in a mighty way. Our first Sunday Morning Worship Service we had 9 people…… We knew we had heard from God we knew we were on the right path. As we stayed faithful, we began to grow and started reaching out more in the community, the Lord continued to bless us, and we began work on the big sanctuary. After the completion of our big beautiful sanctuary we began work on the fellowship hall which would be a place of many great meals and fellowship between the body of Christ and a place to prepare boxes of food for the ones that needed it in our community. In 2007 we began a food pantry outreach to help feed the people of our community both physically and spiritually.
In June of 2008 we had our first annual June Jam. June Jam was a fun day of sing praises of Our King over the city of Caneyville, a massive cookout, with games and Godly fellowship. A time to saturate the atmosphere. Each year we would invite different worship teams some of them included MBLAZE, United, The Edwards Family, etc. 2017 was the last June Jam at Southside Christian Center.
Although we had had a form of children’s church during at least one service a week we had our first Vacation Bible School in June of 2011, Walking with Jesus. Each year we hold Camp meeting/Revival Services in the Fall. And attempt a Christmas Program every year.
In 2012, the congregation at Southside Christian Center recognized Pastor Jack Cockrel as our Apostle and The Faith Covenant Network was birth as this bore witness with Bro. Jack’s spirit because the Lord had already told him it was time to move out of his spiritual papa’s house and become the covering. Pastor Jack at this point had already turned in his resignation as Bishop and Pastor in the Salt Covenant Network Presbytery.
In 2016, we leveled the floor in the sanctuary and turned it around to make it bigger and fulfill the vision for the sanctuary.
On Sunday, May 11, 2018 Mother’s Day we had our last service at Southside Christian Center 402 Morgantown Street. After months of battling in negotiations over the price to buy the building we had leased and call home for 13 years we decided to walk away when we received an eviction notice with 4 days to get 13 years of stuff out of a 5000 square foot building. The bank New Jersey that had acquired the building wanted more than double what the building would bring in Caneyville and after much prayer and fasting we felt it was time to move on. Thanks to our amazing Woodmen of the World Chapter in Caneyville we only missed two services and for the entire months of June and July we were blessed to worship at our Caneyville Woodmen of the World Building on Walnut Grove Road. Our first service at the Woodmen Building Pastor Jack welcomed everyone out and spoke that we had the Woodmen Building on Sunday’s for the months of June and July and that if it was God’s will for us to say in Caneyville and keep going He would provide a place for us to worship. But not only that he would provide but that since we left Southside neat, clean, and ready to walk in and have church that God would also provide us a place we could walk in and have church.
Around the 20th of July a man called Pastor Jack and told him that they had had to close the doors of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church on Sunday, July 1st and had heard we were looking for a church building. Pastor explained to him they weren’t Baptist we were nondenominational full gospel congregation and they were fine with that so Pastor Jack told the man they he would let the congregation know and we would pray about it. God provided us a new building a new place to worship that was already set up and ready for us to just walk in and worship Jesus. God is faithful and He goes above and beyond to bless and provide for those who wait on Him and are faithful to His Word!!!
Sunday, July 29, 2018 was our first service at New Hope Church located at 4078 Falls of Rough Road Caneyville, Kentucky 42721. This beautiful church established in 1885 is full of history and is truly a place you can feel the prayers of the saints of old as you walk into the sanctuary. This building has been saturated with hope, love, peace, joy, and most important the presence of God. We are so excited and honored God choose us to be a part of His Kingdom and allows us to serve in this community we call home!!! We are expecting great and powerful things to happen in the Kingdom of God here in Caneyville, Kentucky. The Lord has refreshed the vision and gave us NEW HOPE in Him to press forward, seeking the presence of God, expecting Jesus to show off with many signs and wonders of His power, to see many souls come into the Kingdom of God, and to be a part of true revival for the saints that leads into a mighty awaking in this community of who Jesus is and what He has truly done for us. Expect great thing to be happening because we serve a great and powerful God that is mightier than any situation on this earth.
On April 23, 2021 we purchased the old Southside Christian Center building. Sometimes you got to go back to the enemies camp and take back all the devil has stolen!!! Resurrection Sunday, April 4, 2021 was the Kickoff Service for Southside Christian Center. We are so excited to have two location to worship in!!!!
God is faithful and He keeps His Word we look forward to each new thing He does and much more history to record for this is a brief overview and nowhere near covers everything………..
Genesis 15:1-21 KJV 1 After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward. 2 And Abram said, Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus? 3 And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir. 4 And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir. 5 And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. 6 And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness. 7 And he said unto him, I am the LORD that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it. 8 And he said, Lord GOD, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it? 9 And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon. 10 And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not. 11 And when the fowls came down upon the carcases, Abram drove them away. 12 And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him. 13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; 14 And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance. 15 And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age. 16 But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full. 17 And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces. {a burning...: Heb. a lamp of fire} 18 In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates: 19 The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites, 20 And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims, 21 And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.
Faith in the dictionary means to have complete trust or confidence in someone or something. Scripture says in Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. {substance: or, ground, or, confidence} KJV
Faith isn’t always easy but faith is very necessary for our Christian walk. A covenant in the dictionary means an agreement. In the bible when you look it up in Strong’s Hebrew meaning is (in the sense of cutting; a compact (because made by passing between pieces of flesh):--confederacy, (con-)feder(-ate), covenant, league. So this covenant of faith that God made with Abraham was powerful, serious, and to never be broken. Abraham believed God (faith) that through God’s grace we are saved by having faith in Jesus not anything man made or done.
Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. And by Abraham believing God’s word and making that covenant with Him it put him in right standing with God.
Romans 4:3 KJV 3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
We must have faith without faith in Jesus and what Jesus has done we have nothing.
Hebrews 11:6 KJV 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Jesus sent us an amazing Founder and Senior Pastor Apostle Jackson Cockrel. In 2005 after much prayer, fasting, and guidance from The Holy Spirit with conformation and encouragement from his spiritual father; he took a giant leap of faith and planted SSCC in the middle of his hometown Caneyville, Kentucky. Now we are plowing in the harvest field at New Hope Church in Caneyville, Kentucky. Pastor Jack is a very anointed preacher and guitar player with over 20 years of ministry. He was married to the lovely June Downs Cockrel of 47 years and they have three daughters Lorie (Davy) Norris, Stephanie (Mark) Stevenson, and Dana. Along with five granddaughters and three great-granddaughter and one great-grandson all faithful and very involved in the ministry.
The Faith Covenant Network believes church is more than religion, denomination, or a building; it's about being a servant of God, Sharing The Gospel, Worshiping God in spirit and in truth and praising Him. God's worth it because He thought you were worth sending His only begotten Son to die a horrible death, so you could have eternity with The Lord. Our vision is going beyond your traditional church service. We strive to reach new and deeper levels in Christ and experience His presence and power more than ever before.
John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. (KJV)
We're here to help others discover who Jesus is and what your purpose is in The Kingdom. God's not just something religious, He's a powerful person, worthy of honor and glory, and He desires a personal one on one intimate relationship with you.
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
We teach The Bible. It's our road map, instruction manual, and hope when we need encouragement. We teach the importance of having a personal relationship with Jesus. We teach we have to continually be Walking by Faith, Rising up servants for The Kingdom, and Sending people out to spread The Gospel.
Psalms 133:1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
